Q. What are the benefits of the Upgrade Plan?

A. The Upgrade Plan is like an upgrade insurance program. When you order Upgrade Plan for a product, you are entitled to all upgrades of that product during the Upgrade Plan term. Adobe automatically sends notifications of available upgrades to CLP Upgrade Plan participants.

The Upgrade Plan allows the user to upgrade to new versions of the software covered as they are released, without the need to purchase new licensing. Without the Upgrade Plan, you will need to purchase a full new license to upgrade, since Adobe offers very few upgrade licenses under its educational licensing programs.

The Upgrade Plan provides �technology insurance,� ensuring your employees have the latest technology to maximize their productivity. Yet it lets organizations manage their upgrade strategy and technology versions inexpensively, easily, and with low administrative overhead. This option is perfect for educational institutions that want to ensure they are using up-to-date Adobe software, while reducing both unit and overhead costs.

Q. How do I purchase it?

A. The Upgrade Plan must be purchased at the time of the original license purchase or at the beginning of a new CLP agreement term. Pricing is usually about 30–40% of the price of the same product�s license for a full 2-year term.

All Upgrade Plans purchased will expire at the same time as the original 2-year agreement. Upgrade Plans purchased during the middle of the agreement period are pro-rated to expire at the same time as the 2-year agreement:

CLP 4/4.5 Agreements – Pricing for the Adobe Upgrade Plan is pro-rated in 6-month intervals (you pay for 24, 18, 12 or 6 months remaining) and the Upgrade Plan coverage co-terminates with the agreement.

CLP 5 Agreements (those agreements beginning after October 15, 2009) – Pricing for the Adobe Upgrade Plan is pro-rated in 3-month intervals (you pay for 24, 21, 18, 15, 12, 9, 6 or 3 months remaining) and the Upgrade Plan coverage co-terminates with the agreement.

The Upgrade Plan can be renewed for 2 full years at the beginning of a new CLP agreement term.

Q. What happens when a new version of Upgrade Plan-covered software is released?

A. Owners of the Upgrade Plan will receive an e-mail from Adobe notifying them that their licensing has been upgraded and inviting them to claim free upgrade media using a coupon code. Instructions for claiming the free media are contained in that e-mail. You can also download the new version from the Adobe Licensing Website.
